Living With Christopher

Người đăng: Unknown

Mark Haddon wrote a marvelous book that became a bestseller and won both the Whitbread Book of the Year and Whitbread Novel awards. It was said that Mark Haddon himself exclaimed, “Who on Earth would want to read about a fifteen-year-old boy with a disability?,” while he was making this book. Little did he know that it was exactly the fifteen-year-old boy with a disability that made his book stand out, win awards and become a bestseller. The book is called, “The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time and the boy is Christopher.”

Christopher is an autistic-savant. He can name all the countries in the world and their capitals. He has a photographic memory and a genius in math and science. Despite of his unusual intelligence, he cannot imagine, understand figures of speech and relate to jokes. He also does not like places with a lot of people and people touching him. People who are autistic-savants exhibit both characteristics common among those with autism and those with Savant Syndrome. Autism is one developmental disorder among the group of Autism Spectrum Disorders. This condition is mainly characterized by impairment in socialization, imagination and communication. Savant Syndrome is characterized by very low general intelligence but extraordinary narrow intelligence usually in the fields of mathematics, music, art and memorization.

In the story, Christopher’s parents are separated. His mother decided to leave Christopher and his father because she cannot cope anymore with the demands of having an autistic child. Parents who take care of special children such as those with autism may probably have a higher stress level compared to most parents. This is mainly because their children have special demands, unusual behaviors and different abilities compared to other kids of the same age. These children will most likely find it difficult to communicate, thus, resulting to unusual reactions. An example of this is when an autistic child cries for no apparent reason and begins hitting himself or herself. Most likely, something has caused him or her to feel upset but cannot convey what it is because he or she does not know how. Some autistic children with sensory integration problems may either be hypersensitive or hyposensitive to touch, pressure, movement and sound. They will show certain behaviors that are sometimes difficult to understand such as avoidance of certain types of food and drinks, pinching or hitting, repetitive movements and screaming. Some of them can also exhibit strong adherence to certain routines and fear of new places or people. To accommodate the needs and cope with the behaviors of these children is not easy and, therefore, can result to a lot of stress.

Autism can greatly limit a child’s world. They thrive in security and anything they perceive as a threat to their security should be avoided. However, a lot of factors, situations and demands of society make them insecure and being forced to deal with these makes them very anxious most of the time. Unconsciously and unintentionally, children with autism have a constant feeling of anxiety to anything that is new or foreign to their understanding. Just like in the book, when Christopher had to go beyond the area of the town that is familiar with him, he felt physically sick and afraid. Unlike most children, those with autism cannot easily adapt to new environment or situations. The process of learning to understand and accept what is previously unknown to them results to a higher level of anxiety.

Despite what seems to be a difficult task of adapting and coping with autistic children, a lot has already been studied and published regarding proper management that will not only lessen the children’s anxiety but also their parents’ stress. Certain methods such as Cognitive Behavior Modification, Behavior Modification Techniques and Environmental Modification Techniques had been proven effective in changing the inappropriate behaviors and improving the learning skills of children with autism. Some, having compounding conditions other than autism, may need additional treatment as advised by the doctors. Autistic children who also have manic depression due to their unhappiness with being involuntarily trapped in their self-protecting behaviors may need more therapy than what was mentioned earlier. Consulting a psychiatrist is highly advisable in this situation and other medications may be prescribed.

Christopher’s story ended with him being able to overcome challenges that have caused him too much anxiety and his mother deciding to return to take care of him. Just like in this fictional novel, the same can be achieved in real life in terms of dealing with stress and anxiety among families who need to cope with the condition. Through proper management, medication or treatment, stress and anxiety among parents and autistic children can be addressed effectively.

The Perfect Body

Người đăng: Unknown

The Perfect Body. Everyone wants it. If we have the perfect body, it becomes a race to keep it. "I can't gain that weight back." If we don't have it we resent it, some to inconsolable longing. This longing can verge on an obsession to extreme measures (Al Roker). We strive for those low body fat numbers 8-10% for men and 15-20% for women. We count calories or eat low carb for that perfect thin body. We want all traces of rolls, dimples and squishy, puffy soft skin gone. All signs of gravity lifted. Our age needs to be defied. We want tone, taught and lean skin and muscles. We have to look like models and superstars who are paid thousands a day to look the way they do. Lithe. long, lean, sinewy, wispy even drawn. Pay no attention that these stars can afford the time and trainers to exercise 4 hours a day in the pursuit of perfection. There's a plethora of diet books out there.

We're all studying weight loss. Each new book brags a new solution. But the diet industry has grown as large and swollen as the American public's waistlines. Diets, pills, patches, concoctions, procedures, prescriptions and remedies to supposedly 'cure your condition'. Meanwhile health care costs are spiraling out of control from high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes and other diseases exacerbated by being overweight. We can turn away from it in anger, disgust or frustration, to give up and get fat (1/4 of America). Or continue from one diet to the next fad, yoyoing into obesity (other 1/4 America). What is going on? As life gets easier with our technological advances and our economic success we become more sedentary. Is it the increased need for instant gratification causing the obesity? Or is it mass produced fast foods with no nutritional value that are just too easy to acquire?

Add to this a sedentary lifestyle. Speaking of instant gratification, liposuction seems an easy solution. It will suck the fat away making us look perfectly thin but our blood chemistry doesn't change. We're still overweight inside, ripe for heart disease and sure to gain the weight back. The weight then tends to come back in all the wrong places exacerbating the situation (look out Nicole Smith!) Self-esteem and body weight are inextricably linked. I have to say that the recognition I receive (as a woman) for being slim is real. Generally the thinner I am the more positive the response. My experience probably reflects others, in that the social recognition for thin is insidious. Media, society, and culture reinforce these perspectives. Self-esteem and body weight I conclude are inextricably linked for most. It will take more than a rebellious few such as Queen Latifa who's refreshing attitude expresses "Thin for who? For what? I like my meals! I'm happy and successful! And I like being full figured!" Her message liberates perfectionist thinking. She's got curves and her body fat is probably a healthy 25%.

The pursuit of the perfect body then becomes a self esteem issue. If we want recognition we can't eat, drink or be merry! We need to always be in control to uphold these rigid standards. That's the rub. For naturally fun loving, giving and sharing folks who want to enjoy life while being healthy and productive here's a solution. Lose control! Queen Latiffa does it by taking off on her motorcycle going from here to who knows where. Lose yourself in something you love to do and forget the rest. I call it 'zoning' when I lose myself in my writing, exercising, playing with kids, music, conversation sometimes even in housecleaning (Beware: this 'zoning' thing is contagious and starts to infiltrate everything you do). Just lose yourself in the moment, and find the zone within. It builds self esteem, burns calories and generates bliss at the same time. What if we all completely forgot about having a perfect body and refocused on being healthy? We'd lose all the emotional baggage that comes with perfection. We'd focus instead, on health and feeling good. We would eat properly and sensibly and exercise. Lots of vegetables, lean proteins and some whole grains. Nutrient packed foods, which have negative calories because they're work for the body to break them down. It's the man made foods that tempt us and make us eat too much because they just taste so...good? These foods spoil our taste buds: sugar, processed foods, white flour, hydrogenated oils. They take away the pleasure of simpler more complex flavors. Plus these once nutritious foods are processed into empty fat storing, blood sugar raising caloric dumping. Yes, okay sometimes we can indulge with a glass of wine or piece of chocolate. We can't always say no. Halloween and the holidays are imminent and we need good habits to fortify our resolve without being rigid. Here's a strategy!

Eat the healthy foods first. Relish them and get satisfied. After the meal is when you go for the 'bad' or 'fun' food if you still need to. You'll only eat a little, because you're sated. There are no diet secrets, only common sense. Of course there is the role of social stigma and the media continuing to rev the engine of needing to have a perfect body. But we know better now. We may not look like a super star or model but maybe our natural healthy glow from our zoning through life in good health will give us the longevity and quality of life we all desire. Part of being productive in our daily life is exercise. Our advanced technology affords us the time to make time for daily exercise. Our bodies need, crave it and respond to it once the habit is formed. One thorough give it your all effort, for one hour a day is plenty. Exercise is what keeps you looking, feeling and being young.

Exercise for survival is part of our evolution. Did our predecessors ever prioritize a perfect body? So forget about perfection. Now get out there eat healthy, exercise and find your zone to enjoy life to its fullest. PS. Can we have the perfect body? Absolutely! Can you keep it once you've got it? Definitely! But the only way it will really stay is a lot of rigid control (saying no) or a lot of losing control by 'zoning' and regular exercise.

20 Simple Ways to Beat Fatigue this Winter

Người đăng: Unknown

AS Autumn with it's breathless colours of flames and golds comes to an end, we await the arrival of Winter and it's own definitive beauty.

Yes, there is no point kidding ourselves, it will be pretty damp and, at times, downright. It will be cold and chilly and for some the task of dragging ourselves out of bed in the dark mornings will get more and more difficult. The glare of oncoming headlamps will play havoc with your eyes as you head homeward bound during the dark evenings in manic traffic. And as you reluctantly adjust to the shorter days and lack of natural daylight and sunlight, you are also faced with the fact that Christmas, and it's inevitable rush, is heading this way, as it always does, at full speed!

All the ingredients to ensure a good dose of winter fatigue I'm sure you'll agree - but help is at hand! It doesn't have to be unbearable. If you are feeling a little lack lustre, yawning at a ferocious rate and basically have just about enough energy in the evenings to slump down on the sofa in front of the box, you'll be tickled pink you opened this page! You can bring back that 'joie de vivre' and add a little peppering of genuine verve back into your life by trying some (or indeed all) of these 20 simple ways to boost your energy levels this winter!

1) SLEEP - Get as much sleep as you need to and remember your body really needs it at this time of year.

2) VITAMINS - Supplements such as Vitamins A, B and E are all important for well-being. If you want to avoid supplements, however, you can ensure that you eat the necessary foods containing these essentials. Try using 1 teaspoon of Brewers Yeast in a glass of milk or water, it's full of Vitamin B and good for digestion too.

3) LAUGHTER - Bring on the laughter and smiles, it's the most natural way to help depression, anxiety and, believe it or not, it lowers blood pressure too!

4) STRETCH - One really effective way to beat fatigue is to try a Yoga pose known as the 'Standing Stretch'. Stand in the correct posture, that is, with your toes pointed out in front of you, your knees relaxed and your feet at hip distance. Ensure the weight is balanced evenly between the ball and the heel of your foot. Interlace your thumbs and stretch your hands up above your head while keeping your arms against your ears - and stretch upwards from the lumbar area of your lower back. Keeping your breath even throughout, now slowly release the arms down in front of you. Tuck your chin into your chestbone and gently lower yourself down, vertebrae by vertebrae keeping arms hanging loosely and then just hang from the waist. This position encourages the blood flow to the head and is a real winner when you need to energise yourself. After one minute slowly bring yourself back up into a standing position, imagining as you do so that each vertebrae is stacking itself upon the next until you are eventually upright and repeat three times.

5) DIET - Check your Diet and be sure over the winter months to include at least five portions of fruit and vegetables everyday.

6) AROMATHERAPY - Use pure Essential Oils as often as you need them. Burning Peppermint or Rosemary oils is excellent for alertness and both also aid concentration. As these oils are energising oils it is best not to use them in the evening if you are planning to have a good nights sleep.

7) THE MAGIC OF WATER - Don't forget the recommended amount is approximately two litres per day.

8) AVOID toxic people because, quiet simply, they can completely drain you of energy.

9) EXERCISE - Get plenty of exercise - There's no escaping it. The health gurus recommend that we all need to include at least 15 minutes exercise, three or four times a week.

10) LEARN TO SAY 'NO' more often. As the old saying goes 'those that matter won't mind and those that mind don't matter'. You'll be amazed at how much energy you can recoup and even more amazed to discover that if you say 'no' the world will keep on turning.

11) COMBAT PARTY NIGHTS - If you've had a late night on the Town try drinking at least two glasses of water before crawling up to bed, it will make the following day far more bearable.

12) BREAKFAST - We've known from a very early age that we should never miss Breakfast. No matter how tight you are for time try not to skip it. For a quick energy-inducing breakfast grab a mug of hot water with honey and lemon and a quick bowl of cereal, ideally with fibre.

13) REDUCE your intake of Caffeine. While it may give a quick boost, a lot of caffeine daily actually ends up having a negative effect on your energy level. You might even try substituting a couple of cups a day with a herbal tea, such as sage to raise spirits, peppermint to aid digestion or chamomile to enable you to unwind.

14) LEARN - Meditation and Relaxation techniques - they'll be invaluable not just today but for life.

15) MOTHER NATURE - Get out there and make the most of the short daylight hours. Overdose on fresh air. There is nothing more revitalizing than taking the time, even if it's only 15 minutes a day, to soak in our beautiful scenery and breathe in the fabulous scents of the season.

16) MASSAGE - It's a wonderful way of keeping the immune system in ship shape order and the body supple and healthy. So go on invest in your health and schedule a massage once a month for optimum results.

17) DIGESTION - Be kind to your digestive system. Eat slowly and avoid late night eating as much as possible.

18) STRESS - Manage your stress levels and become aware of your react to stress. Remember stress is infectious!

19) MANAGE TIME EFFECTIVELY - Avoid using up your lovely energy by rushing to every appointment. Aim to leave about fifteen minutes earlier, not only will you arrive in plenty of time - you'll be completely unfrazzled.

20) CONCIOUS BREATHING - Believe it or not most of us don't breathe properly. With the speed of modern day life most adults are chest breathers which means the breath doesn't make it right down into the abdomen. Become conscious of your breath each day by taking a little time to become aware of your breathing habits. The following short exercise will benefit you in many ways as well as helping to re-energise your mind, body and soul...Firstly r-e-l-a-x your entire body by taking a deep breath into your stomach. As you slowly release it imagine it traveling up along your spine, relaxing all the muscles as you go and bringing attention to the shoulders by consciously dropping them into a relaxed position. Follow your breath and think about bringing the breath down into the bottom of the lungs and really feel the tummy rising and then exhale fully and slowly. After just a few minutes resume your regular activities and feel the difference.

Now you'll be ready to welcome the coming months with open arms and revel in the wonderful delights this season has to offer leaving you invigorated and ready to enjoy this Winter. You won't know yourself - I promise!

Assisted Living: Elderly Loved Ones' Safety is Focus

Người đăng: Unknown

Convincing elderly loved ones to move from the comfort of the home they've known for years into an assisted living situation can be one of the toughest hurdles for families to face.

The best way is to start the conversation sooner than later, while your loved ones are still in good health. Getting them used to the idea beforehand will make it easier when the time comes. But what if you haven't discussed it nor made plans for a transition? If it is time for your loved ones to alter their living situation--here are some things you should do.

Think Safety First

Keep in mind that your loved ones' safety is the most important thing. If you know that they cannot remain in their own home safely, don't let your emotions override what you know needs to be done. Don't wait for a broken hip, a car accident, medicine overdose, or a crisis call before you step in. Recognize that when you were a child, your parents would have done everything possible to ensure your safety. Now, as hard as it is, you have to be the "parent", and make the best decisions for them.

Consider a Multi-Level Facility

A multi-level facility offers additional services, preventing the turmoil of another movie if your loved ones' health declines. Many seniors start out with their own private apartment and progress through stages of assisted living and eventually to skilled nursing and dementia care, all within the same facility. They may be able to bathe, dress, and take their own medications now, but it's a blessing to know that services can be added if needed. And many times the friends they have made along the way progress along with them, providing the comfort of familiar faces.

Get References

The best way to evaluate a facility is to talk with families who have a loved one living there. Drop in on the weekends during peak visiting hours and discreetly ask about the accommodations, service, activities, cleanliness, food (be sure to eat a meal there yourself), reliability, personnel, etc. If they had it to do again, would they move their loved one there? What do they wish they had known? Also, ask the administrators if there are any liens or lawsuits filed, and ask to review their licensing and certification reports. Also, check with your local Area Agency on Aging and their long-term care ombudsman's office. If the facility will not put in writing that there aren't any legal problems--keep looking!

Ask About Activities

Adult children are often filled with guilt for moving their parents, that is, until they see them flourishing in a new environment, making friends, and participating in activities they haven't enjoyed for years. Ask the activity director what/when activities are offered, such as: field trips, games, crafts, educational classes, singing, dancing, gardening, cooking, bingo, exercising, movies, interaction with children and animals, etc? Be sure to monitor the director and the frequency of these activities regularly.

Create a Relationship

Once you've selected the right place, ask the administrators to help convince your loved one to move, as they are very familiar with this problem and deal with it daily. Ask if someone can call your parents to try to develop a relationship over the phone. Perhaps he or she could drop by (while you just happen to be there) to invite your parents to a get-together. A few days later, casually drive you parents there, just to say hello to that person who was so kind to drop by. Seeing a familiar face is usually very helpful. Remember, any kind of change can be very scary for an elder. Take things slow, gradually reinforcing the idea of moving, with their safety your goal.

Create a Need

Another idea is to have the administrator ask for your loved one's "help" with something. Could they, for example, help with the bingo, cooking or singing classes? Perhaps they can help prepare lunch for the seniors there. Telling your loved ones that they are "needed" and giving them a "job" will help them feel more comfortable about going there. They will make friends, which can then ease the transition to moving there. Also, ask their doctors to encourage the move, emphasizing safety.

Reach for Support

Realize that since the beginning of time, everyone who has ever been lucky enough to have their parents reach old age has experienced the pain of watching their once-competent loved ones decline. We all know it is a part of life, but there are no words that can prepare us for the sorrow. Reach out for help from family and friends, join a support group right away--and don't even think you can do it alone!

HIV and Older Women

Người đăng: Unknown

HIV infections are on the rise. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the number of Americans over 50 who are infected with HIV have grown over 5 times (16,300 people in 1995, to 90,600 in 2003).

While seniors represent about 14% of people with HIV, senior women represent 18%. The numbers of women with infections are even higher for American women of color, and come in at a staggering 47% when looking at world HIV infection rates. That means that just under half of all HIV infections are found in women worldwide.

One reason for the higher number of older women with HIV was found in a study recently published by Emory University. They surveyed 514 women over the age of 50, and found that their knowledge about transmission was poor. For example, approximately 50% of women believed that vasectomies and diaphragms prevent the spread of HIV.

Other reasons include the fact that many older women, who have sex with men, are also not using condoms, knowing they are past the point of having to worry about pregnancy. Women also erroneously think they can't get HIV if they are not engaging in behaviors they deem as risky. The truth of the matter is this. HIV is a virus. It's an opportunist. It does not care if you are male or female. It does not care who you have sex with, nor the numbers of people you have sex with. It certainly does not care about the color of your skin, you bank balance or you age.

HIV is primarily spread in two ways. First is though the sharing of contaminated intravenous drug equipment. Second, and more commonly, HIV is spread by unprotected sexual encounters. Women frequently are the receptive partners, and the receptive partners are more likely to become infected. Women who are post menopausal are at higher risk because of the changes in the vaginal tissue. With less estrogen to nourish the vagina, the tissue atrophies (becomes thin) and there is less lubrication. A woman can easily get tiny tears in her vaginal tissues, thus leaving an opening for virus to gain entry to her blood stream.

What's a woman to do?

Know your own HIV status. Contact your health care provider, or (if you want anonymous testing) the local health department for testing. I do not recommend home testing at this time. First, if you are positive, are you really? And if you are negative, are you really? If positive, confirmatory blood testing is required. Many offices have started using rapid testing in the office where preliminary results can be obtained in 20 minutes. In the meantime you can get the appropriate information on how you need to proceed.
Know your partners history (this goes for both male AND female partners ladies!). Do they have a history of multiple partners and unprotected sexual encounters? Have they been tested? When? Did they get a follow up test at 6 months? What were the results?
Condoms and lubrication are essential. Use them not only on your partners body parts that may be entering you, but also on any toys you may be utilizing as well There are several online and confidential sources to purchase lubricants, condoms and gloves.
Limit your exposure when possible. Think twice if you are engaging in high risk behavior with a casual or new partner.
Educate yourself. The information presented here is just a small portion of what you need to know. Each of us bears the responsibility to educate ourselves and our partners.
For many women, sexual activity does not stop just because they reach a certain age. I encourage you to continue to enjoy yourselves, but do so safely.

Your Body is Your Temple-Treat it That Way

Người đăng: Unknown

How many times in your life have you heard the statement, "your body is your temple?" It's one of those ideas that sneak into your consciousness and you don't know where you actually heard it.

Think about it for a moment. Do you believe that your body is your temple? Maybe it doesn't make sense to you at first. Let's see what the dictionary has to say about a "temple" and then you tell me.

· a place dedicated to worship

· having within it a divine presence

· a place reserved for a highly valued function

Let's take a look at them one by one.

Your body is a place that needs to be dedicated to worshiping itself.

If you don't worship your own body, who will? And what exactly does worshiping your body mean? Worshiping your body means taking care of it. Worshiping your body means doing what is best for it, not just on the outside but on the inside as well. Worshiping your body means nurturing it with proper nutrition, regular exercise and sufficient sleep. Worshiping your body means learning about it and listening to it. When your body is sick, it's letting you know that something is missing. It requires something that you are not giving it. I'm not talking about worship in terms of becoming obsessed with how you look. I'm talking about treating your body with respect, compassion and care.

Your body has within it a divine presence.

Doesn't it make sense that a divine presence resides within your body? You don't need to be religious to believe that we are all one with the universe. How else can we explain the miracle of our body. Just think for a moment about all the functions it performs without our even thinking about it. Our heart beats, our eyes blink, we breathe, we swallow, we digest--all with no conscious thought. We have countless hormones, enzymes, muscles, bones, organs, all working in perfect harmony. It is amazing, given how many of us treat our body, that it continues to work as well as it does. Who can possibly explain such an amazing machine without realizing that a power more powerful than we are dwells within us.

Your body is reserved for a highly valued function.

Wouldn't you agree that your body is reserved for a highly valued function? Without your body, you would have no vehicle to carry you through this life, no way to fulfill on what you see as your life's purpose, no way to do those things that are important to you. I suspect you can see that is a highly valued function. After all, what could be more important? Using your body to accomplish all those things you need to do every day. And, beyond that, being able to use your body to do everything you want to do. I'm going to get a little personal here. I've been in a position where my body was "sick" and I simply couldn't do many of the things I needed and wanted to do. It's no fun. Many of us take our body for granted. Unfortunately, it took a crisis for me to learn that lesson. Don't wait until you have a crisis in your life to begin to appreciate your body.

So, can we agree that your body really is your temple?

And, can we agree that, as your temple, your body deserves to be treated with the utmost respect and care?

Many of us tend to focus much of our attention on cutting, coloring and arranging our hair, keeping our nails impeccably polished and making sure our makeup is perfect. But what do we do about everything below our neck? How much time do we spend tending to those parts of us?

How many of us pay careful attention to the nutrition we feed our body? If you don't put the right kind of fuel in a car, it simply won't run. How many of us make sure that we are giving our body enough exercise to keep it in good working order. Here comes the car again! You might know that, if you don't drive a car but simply leave it parked in the garage, it won't run very well. You won't be able to depend on it when you need it. Well, our body is no different. We need to use it. The more we use it, the better it runs.

Since you're reading this, I'm betting you've already realized what you've been doing to destroy your "temple". Insufficient exercise, poor nutrition, inadequate rest, stress. And, if you've made it to this paragraph, I imagine you're very interested in repairing the damage and learning how to take good care of your body from now on. Let me be the first to encourage you to begin healthy nutrition and exercise practices right now. You will never make a better investment in yourself. Your temple will thrive on it.

Nutrition For Women

Người đăng: Unknown

As a woman, your body is very complex. Throughout every phase of your life you will require extra care and nutritional support

Today's scientific advances support a number of natural choices for women, like soy. Still, the fact remains that calcium, folic acid and iron continue to be the most important nutrients that can impact a woman's total health. All women should take a daily multiple vitamins with these essential nutrients.

Calcium is essential to strong healthy bones.

As a woman you have a much greater risk of developing osteoporosis because you have less bone tissue and lose bone more rapidly then men do. Be sure to consume adequate calcium throughout life, as this may reduce your risk of osteoporosis later in life. Calcium is essential to the health of bones, teeth and skin, yet few adults get enough of it in their diets. Make sure you find a high quality calcium supplement to ensure you receive a health-enhancing daily allowance.

Folic acid impacts women in many ways.

It plays an important role during rapid fetal growth and development. In fact, adequate intake of folic acid as part of a healthy diet before and in early pregnancy may reduce the risk of having a baby with a birth defect of the brain or spinal cord. All women of childbearing age are recommended to consume 400 mcg of folic acid everyday starting at least one month before conception into the early weeks of pregnancy.

Folic acid also plays a role in the maintenance of normal homocysteine levels; elevated levels of homocysteine are believed to be a risk factor of heart health.

Iron

Iron is a vital nutrient that plays an essential role in forming healthy red blood cells and transporting oxygen. It's estimated that as many as 62% of women over the age of 20 are not meeting the RDA for iron. Women also tend to be low in iron because they tend to eat foods low in iron and lose iron through menstruation.

Drinking a glass of orange juice with your cereal can boost iron absorption by the body. Vitamin C helps the body metabolize the iron. A high quality Vitamin C supplement rich in antioxidants to help fight the harmful effects of free radicals is a wonderful supplement not only to assist iron absorption, but also to combat ageing.

Vitamin C is coveted for its many benefits, including a contribution to healthy bones, teeth, blood vessels and the production of collagen.

In addition to taking a daily multiple vitamin, routine exams are key to prevention and healthy living. You should have a yearly gynecological exam that includes a pelvic exam, breast exam and PAP test. Also, consider performing monthly self-breast exams to familiarize yourself with how your breasts normally look and feel. If you are over 40, you should have a mammogram every year.

Preventing Osteoporosis

Once we get past the inevitable scrapes of childhood, during our middle years we don't give too much thought to our bones

We understand that bones make up our structural frame, but we tend to think of our bones like the frame of a house. Supporting and rigid, and that's it.

The truth of it is that bone is an active, living tissue. Bone is constantly changing, undergoing synthesis and remodeling itself. Like all other bodily tissue, bone is totally dependent on many different micronutrients and enzymes for optimum bone function and health.

Unfortunately the typical western diet is now so heavily weighted with white flours, refined sugars and fats it is deplete of many of the micronutrients required for healthy bones.

There are other aspects of concern with the typical western diet. Do you regularly drink carbonated beverages? Did you know that carbonated drinks increase the body's intake of phosphorus - which, in turn, decreases our absorption of calcium. Decreased absorption of calcium can lead to an unhealthy, nutrient-starved skeletal system. And in time this can lead to osteoporosis.

Whilst calcium is necessary, it is not the only critical micronutrient for healthy bones. Make sure your diet has an adequate supply of magnesium, zinc, silicon, boron, folic acid, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, Manganese, vitamin K, vitamin D and magnesium. These trace elements are important and many of us are not getting them from our regular food consumption patterns. For instance, the Journal of Nutritional Medicine reports between 80 to 85 per cent of Americans consume a magnesium-deficient diet!

The good news is that if many of us with diet deficiencies which may have impacted our bone health, can improve our situation with a few lifestyle adjustments. Medical evidence supports an improvement in bone density where people make lifestyle changes to incorporate weight bearing exercise, a diet more rich in fresh fruit and vegetables, complemented with high quality nutritional supplements.

Delay Ejaculation - And Please Your Partners in the Bedroom

Người đăng: Unknown

Delay ejaculation and finally be able to impress your hot girl that you brought home. To many men, delaying their ejaculating period is something that is easier said than done.

Premature ejaculation can be hard to deal with, this is especially true for men that are still presently testing the field and dating various partners.

Even though a sexual relationship is not the foundation that makes a relationship, many men are embarrassed because of this problem and inadvertently begin thinking that there must be something terribly wrong with them. The truth is if you suffer from a premature ejaculation problem there is a way that you can delay the rate of your ejaculation and be able to have a worry free sex life.

Delay ejaculation is a term that many men wish that they could live up to. Believe it or not, every man can delay the times that they ejaculate as long as they can determine what is causing their problem. In many men the reason why they ejaculate so quickly is because their mind takes over their bodies. It is a typical case of mind over matter.

There are so many men that simply get over aroused before they engage in sexual intercourse that they often times hype themselves up too much before the act is set to commence. Before you commence in sexual activities you need to learn how to control your brain to not only fixate your attention on the act that is about to occur.

This may be difficult. However, overtime you can train yourself to think of different things before you engage in a sexual act and be able to delay the time that it takes you to ejaculate immensely. Another way that you can avoid ejaculating too fast is to watch the foods that you eat.

Believe it or not, a lot of the reasons why so many people suffer from health related qualms is not because there is something wrong with them, it is because they do not know how to properly take care of themselves. By avoiding foods that are injected with hormones, you can actually cause your sex life to heat up.

Foods that are injected with hormones actually can cause the natural hormones within a males body to go haywire. Thus, resulting in some things that any typical man would feel that they had no control over. By monitoring your diet and keeping hormone injected meats of out of your diet you will begin to notice a significant difference in the time that it takes you to ejaculate.

Another way to delay ejaculation from occurring is to learn how to hone out the feelings that you are getting while engaged in sexual intercourse. This is perhaps the most difficult thing to accomplish. However, there are products that are available over the counter that pledge that they can assist men with cutting back on the sensations that they feel during a typical sexual intercourse session.

By easing up on the amount of times that you masturbate you can help yourself last longer in the bedroom as well. Masturbation may have seemed like a great thing in the past, but if you want to impress the ladies you definitely do not want to be seen as the man that has problems holding himself back.

Male Premature Ejaculation - Do Kegels Work for Delaying Ejaculation?

Người đăng: Unknown

Male premature ejaculation is a huge problem that many men suffer from.

Very few do anything about finding solutions, and many men don't even realize that there are reliable resources available for preventing premature ejaculation.

The men that do seek help often try to turn towards a pill for the solution, which is really not the way to go if you want permanent and natural results.

Now let's talk about "kegels". This refers to an exercise that is supposed to strengthen the muscle responsible for ejaculation. Most men have weak muscles responsible for ejaculatory control, and hence they suffer from ejaculting much too quickly during sex.

Briefly, let's mention where this muscle is and how you can trigger it. Located between the testicles and anus, lies what is commonly referred to as the "PC muscles". Try urinating and stopping mid-stream. Feel the small muscles being worked. Those are the PC muscles. And those are the muscles you train when you perform kegel exercises.

Basically, kegels are performed by simply flexing these muscles for a number of repetitions or holding them in a static contraction for a number of seconds. This is put into a routine, which is often performed daily. This essentially is kegel training.

Can kegel training delay ejaculating too quickly? Does it really work?

Yes, but with a very important caveat.

Exercising with kegels will strengthen the muscle and you can actually notice a good degree of development after regular kegel exercising. And that is the key - training kegels on a regular basis.

The reason this type of training will fail, is if the individual believes he can exercise his PC muscles for a few days and then hop in the sack and perform for long lasting periods of time. It doesn't work that way.

Now you may in fact last up to a minute or so longer after only a few days or a week of strengthening your ejaculation muscles. But you likely won't be where you want to be. Most men want to be able to last for as long as they want, achieving total control over their ejaculation ability.

That can be accomplished through kegel exercises. But it is going to take a few weeks at least, if not several. It will vary from guy to guy, but in general you should expect to become stronger after 2-3 weeks. Perhaps you will be where you want to be in your lasting ability after that amount of time. Or you may feel you need to continue performing more exercises to achieve optimal lasting ability.

Here's a good way to test your lasting ability after having trained kegels for a number of weeks. Try masturbating and when you feel ejaculation come on, squeeze your PC's and try to prevent the urge to come. If you've been training, the first time should be easy. The real test will be when you continue on masturbating and you try to prevent ejaculating a second, third or fourth time. If you can hold off five times you are doing great and making huge progress. Most guys have trouble holding back after the first time the urge to ejaculate becomes present. So if you are repeatedly in control, again, you are doing great.

Kegels do work. But they only work if you practice them consistently.

Kegels will not work if you only practice them a few times or occasionaly in a non-consistent fashion.

They really are amazing exercises that can deliver long lasting results. For most men, this is a huge step towards a much more satisfying sex life. It makes sex much more enjoyable for the male, and obviously, much more pleasurable for his male or female partner.

If you want to get started right away on a routine, one that can have you lasting at least 10 minutes longer tonight, then definitely check out http://KegelTrain.com

It's an awesome program that has helped many men overcome premature ejaculation for good. No more worries about ejaculating too quickly. No fear about having sex and not being able to please your partner. Your confidence increases so much knowing that you are able to last as long as you want. Lasting longer is a must have skill that any man who cares about his sexual performance should have. Check it out athttp://KegelTrain.com

Weight Loss For Women: Top 5 Secrets You Can't Live Without

Người đăng: Unknown

Hello ladies, are you tired of every other ad claiming that they have a program specifically designed for weight loss for women?

From one lady to another, stop torturing yourself with these addictive claims. Learn an effective way to lose weight safely and quickly without jitters and without losing your bank account. Learn the 5 secrets for successful weight loss that you can do anywhere and anytime.

It is tiring every time you turn your head or turn on the radio or television one or more ads will appear claiming to be for quick weight loss. Really, especially with the new year that is all you hear about. Every single time the television is on, an ad talks about how great their program can help you lose weight and not do anything differently. Then you jump in your car to get the kids, and guess what's on the radio? You got it another ad about how this system will help you lose weight and oh, this one says it is natural (and you don't have to change your habits with this one either). Remember, natural doesn't mean anything if it isn't healthy. Opium is natural. Marijuana is natural. That doesn't mean you should use it. And finally, you think it couldn't get any worse, but you take a deep breath, yet you are bombarded by it:

Your friends are telling you about the latest and greatest - Facebook, Twitter, Emails, Phone calls etc
Stores have ads in every isle
Billboards
Radio
Television
It is everywhere. As if we didn't feel bad enough that we let the last few stressful years of our busy lives take over and add extra weight - now they have to keep telling us. Well, ladies, it is NOT your fault. These are gimmicks and great marketing techniques - not great weight loss techniques. If these silly ideas worked then 2/3 of the adults wouldn't be overweight and the average person would not gain a whopping 12 pounds over the holiday season.

Whether it is a little or a lot, these 5 secrets are ideal for weight loss for women (excellent weight loss for men too, but let's not tell them yet).

Don't worry, you'll lose those pounds without being fatigued, stressed, or overwhelmed so let's get started. Let's do this naturally and safely so you can lose the weight and keep the weight off for good. We aren't talking a diet: we are talking about a system for a healthy lifestyle.

This is a journey. This is the most important step to understand and to accept! You didn't gain the weight overnight, so you probably won't lose it overnight. It is important to set realistic goals and practice commitment. Any diet that says you don't need to do anything other than buy their product and you will lose tons of weight fast is either 1. A lie, 2. Unhealthy or 3. Both. Set small goals that build into a big goal.

To maximize weight loss for women it is essential to combine as many of the following as possible as often as you can without feeling deprived. It is important to learn to incorporate the cravings you have so that you'll stick to this new lifestyle.

1. Reduce Calories Slowly:
Reduce calories by about 500-1000 cal a day to lose about 2 pounds a week. Some people lose more, and some less but this is a good rule of thumb. This is considered a safe range to lose so you can keep it off. It's not safe and eventually you will gain more back if you deplete your body of calories too fast. If you cut your calories too rapidly or too low, your body will tend to feed off the valuable muscle. This is disastrous to any weight loss program because muscle makes us look firm and sexy, muscle keeps our metabolisms strong, and muscle is what our heart is made of. Cutting back too fast can damage your heart

How to lower our calories? A key way to do this is by increasing your activity level: workout, walk more (just parking your car farther helps significantly), and take the steps, etc. As an added bonus, more activity will lower your stress, improve your sleep, increase your overall energy and help you stay motivated.

2. Make Healthy Food Choices: This can be tricky when you are surrounded by contradicting information "Eat low Carbs, Eat Low Fat, Eat this...Eat that...". Well, here are the facts. According to University of Illinois, diets higher in lean protein and lean dairy have been proven to help weight loss. Eating less processed foods and less artificial foods is easier for your body to metabolize, therefore, helps with weight loss. Avoid empty calories like soft drinks and flavored coffees. Did you know that just by choosing healthy carbohydrate choices like sweet potatoes, veggies, and quinoa etc, it has been proven that you can reduce unsafe deep belly fat by 11%? It is true. And this deep belly fat is definitely our enemy because it is a contributing factor in heart disease, cancer, and diabetes.

Also, eating foods that are high in leucine, an amino acid, will greatly help your journey to a healthier, sexier you. Leucine has been used for years by body builders and others that want to shed unwanted fat while maintaining lean muscle. Remember it is this lean muscle is that helps us maintain a higher metabolism, and it is muscle that gives us that lean, firm, sexy look that we all dream of, plus a healthy heart as mentioned earlier.

3. Keep a Journal: This is a must. You may not find it enjoyable to see that you just drank all your calories in 3 lattes but it is important to know where the calories are going. An online diary is an excellent resource that can track exercise and food calories to optimize weight loss for women. In a recent weight loss study, people who kept a journal doubled their weight loss in a 6 month period when compared to those who did not keep a journal. It is a powerful tool for weight loss for women.

4. Adequate Sleep: Sufficient sleep is about 6-8 hours a night for an average adult. Sleep helps a number of things besides weight loss. It also helps to reduce stress and repair the body. As we know, stress has tons of negative side effects and a biggie is weight gain.

5. Reduce Stress: You may be thinking, easier said than done. Well, that is true. Remember this is a journey: it is a lifestyle commitment to a healthier, better you so it may not be super easy at first. But it will be super effective and you will LOVE the results. In fact, after a few weeks, your energy will begin to rise as you lose weight, and you'll wonder why you ever ate the way you did before. You will LOVE the new you - inside and out.

Now you have the tools to actually succeed with this year's resolution so Good Luck and welcome to your new healthy lifestyle.

7 Secrets To Better Sleep!

Người đăng: Unknown

If you spend your nights tossing and turning, or it takes you hours to fall asleep - set yourself up for sweet dreams with our 7 Secrets to Better Sleep!

Secret #1: Move That Body - A good workout that gets your heart pumping and muscles flexing works wonders on promoting sleep. Regular physical activity makes it easier for you to get to sleep and improves the quality of your sleep. For maximum benefit, avoid rigorous activity three to four hours before bed. Body temperature rises when you exercise, which can make it hard for you to get to sleep.

Secret #2: Get Some Sun - Sunlight is a strong stimulus, so getting sun exposure promotes energy during the day and can help you sleep at night. Darkness, on the other hand, triggers our brains to produce melatonin, a hormone that promotes sleepiness.

If you suffer from exhaustion, fatigue, stress, have low body temperature or are going through menopause, you may have adrenal burnout. Support your adrenals today with our adrenal support supplements.

Secret #3: Lose a Few Pounds - No doubt about it - sleep affects weight and vice versa. Studies have found that people who regularly sleep less than six hours have higher body mass indexes (BMIs). When you don't get enough sleep, you're too tired to exercise. Without enough sleep, you'll be grabbing baked goods with a vengeance and packing on the pounds.

But if you're heavy, it becomes harder to get a good night's sleep. It's a chicken-and-egg thing in terms of not knowing what came first - less sleep leading to weight gain, or becoming overweight and then getting less sleep.

Breaking the pattern isn't easy. Start by trying to ditch just five percent to 10 percent of your body weight, which is all it takes to begin shrinking fat stores, especially the kind that's concentrated in your belly. Belly fat is associated with snoring, which can lead to a lousy nights sleep. Even small changes like eating 100 fewer calories or taking a short walk every day can help.

Secret #4: Create a Sanctuary - Think of your bedroom as your private retreat where you go every night to be renewed. Here's how to turn it into the ideal environment for sleep:

Look for a mattress and a pillow that are comfortable. Preferences for bedding vary widely, so be sure to test out a mattress for a good 15 minutes before you buy.
Set the thermostat on the cool side. Body temperature naturally falls at night. By keeping the room cool, your body will mimic its surroundings.

Darken the room with shades and curtains to keep out light, or even use an eye mask. Darkness helps stimulate the production of melatonin, a hormone that promotes sleepiness.

Secret #5: Ditch the Electronics - Clear your bedroom of TVs, computers and any other electronics. These gadgets emit blue light, which like any light, can cause wakefulness at night and disrupt the body's natural inclination to sleep. Use your bedroom only for sleep (and sex), so you won't associate it with any other activity.

Secret #6: Don't Smoke - Lousy sleep is just one more reason you shouldn't light up. Smokers are four times more likely to report feeling unrested after a night's sleep than nonsmokers. The smokers also spent less time in deep sleep and more time in light sleep. Smoking before bed pumps your body with nicotine, a stimulant that can keep you up at night. It also raises overall body temperature and elevates your heart rate and metabolism - all of which will keep you awake. To make matters worse, smokers go through withdrawal when they're asleep, which disrupts their sleep too.

Secret #7:
Stick With a Routine - It doesn't matter whether you soak in the tub, read a good book or listen to your favorite music, the key is doing the same thing every night, so your body gets the signal that you're prepping for sleep.

And okay, we know you want to sleep in on the weekends and make up for the slumber lost during the week. But it's not a good idea. Get in the habit of waking up and going to bed at the same time every night, even on weekends. Sleeping in on Saturdays and Sundays will only make it hard for you to get to sleep on Sunday night, and you'll feel less refreshed on Monday.

Using a Penis Sleeve for a Happy, Active Penis

Người đăng: Unknown

An active penis is a happy penis; for many men, using a penis sleeve is part of what keeps his tool happy.

(His partner may also find that the sleeve increases her or his happiness as well!) This sex toy can be a welcome addition to a couple's romantic life and when used with care should not have a significant impact upon a man's ongoing penis health.

What is a penis sleeve?

Sometimes referred to as a penis sheath, a sleeve is technically any covering that is added to a man's shaft; however, that definition includes in it things like condoms, which are not really what is meant by a sleeve. More properly, a sleeve is a device that fits over or rests on a penis and in some way adds shape, length or girth to the natural equipment.

What's it made of?

Technically, a sleeve can be made of anything; ancients used sheep's bladders as a combination sleeve and condom, for example. Nowadays, most sleeves are made of plastic, rubber or silicone.

Sleeves tend to be generally cylindrical in shape. Because they are intended to cover the shaft, they are hollowed out to allow for easy insertion of the member; at least one end is open and in some cases, both may be. The shell may be solid along the sides or it may have openings along them. Many sleeves are outfitted with bumps and lumps, which are intended to provide additional stimulation to the partner of the one wearing the sleeve.

How's the fit?

Most sleeves are self-attaching; that is, the opening through which the penis is inserted tends to be a tight fit; in some cases, the entire sleeve is very tight on an erect penis. This is to prevent the sleeve from slipping off. There are, however, some sleeves that come with straps that allow one to tie the sleeve around the testicles. This not only holds the sleeve in place more securely, it can also serve as a testicle cuff for those who enjoy that particular device.

Benefits

There are several benefits to using a penis sleeve. As mentioned, the added dimension that it gives the penis (often combined with the aforementioned bumps and lumps) can provide extra sexual stimulation and pleasure to a partner. The wearer may also gain extra stimulation; the friction caused by tight sleeve on an erect penis, added to the sensations created by the sexual attentions of the partner, can create a "double you pleasure, double your fun" kind of situation.

In addition, many men get an erotically charged psychological boost from the sleeve. They may be aroused at the way in which the sleeve makes the penis look bigger or may find a turn-on from simply focusing this extra attention on the member.

Drawbacks

Some men have a very hard time finding a sleeve that fits properly. A too-tight sleeve can be very uncomfortable, while one that is too loose may fall off. Also problematic is finding one that comfortable accommodates the various stages of hardness that a penis can go through during a course of sexual activity.

Many men who enjoy the sensations provided by a sleeve find that it unfortunately causes some form of penile irritation afterward. Often, the material and tightness of the sleeve may create a rash, redness, soreness or other discomfort.

Fortunately, the active penis that enjoys the use of the sleeve can find relief from these post-sexual irritations through the regular application of a first class penis vitamin cream (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil). Rejuvenation of penis skin irritated by a too-tight sleeve will be aided by a cream that includes a high quality emollient such as shea butter and vitamin E, one of nature's most formidable hydrators. The proper cream choice should also include vitamin A; sleeves tend to cause penile sweating, which adds to that unpleasant crotch aroma. Vitamin A has antibacterial qualities that actively decrease penis odor issues.

Fight Penis Problems Naturally With L-Arginine

Người đăng: Unknown

Of all the penis problems, a soft erection is probably the most feared by men - followed closely by going bald, of course.

Erectile dysfunction, or ED, is a problem that can occur in men of all ages, but the prevalence certainly increases with age. Luckily, a man doesn't have to sit around and watch his manhood fail; he can take some preventative measures to keep the penis healthy and kicking well into the future.

What causes erectile dysfunction?

Erectile dysfunction is simply a fancy, medical term for an inability to achieve or keep an erection that is firm enough for sex. When it comes to a malfunctioning manhood, there is more than one possible reason that can lead to the condition. Any man struggling with a persistently limp dick - a one time thing could be a fluke - should be evaluated by a doctor. He can help determine the correct treatment options based on medical history and likely cause of the condition. Some possible reasons behind ED - both acute and chronic -- include:
Over consumption of alcohol or recreational drugs
Side effects from prescription medications
Cardiovascular disease that causes poor blood flow to the penis
Chronic diseases (i.e. diabetes)
Just being too tired
Mental health issues (i.e. depression, anxiety, stress)
Other psychological issues (i.e. sexual shame, guilt, performance anxiety)

What are some treatment options?

Again, treatment will vary from man to man, depending on the cause of his particular ED. If the problem is caused by a medication side effect, simply switching to a new med may solve the problem, whereas if a psychological factor is at the root, he may need to work extensively with a therapist to work through his problem. Unfortunately, many men are embarrassed to speak with their doctors about ED so they may wait and suffer the consequences of a poor sex life before finally biting the bullet. Other treatment options may include prescription medications, hormone therapy (i.e. testosterone), or in some cases, surgery may be required to restore proper blood flow to the penis.

Are there any natural treatment options?

If a blood flow issue is at the root of an erectile dysfunction problem, one simple rule should be followed: If it's good for the heart, it's good for the penis. That means exercise, eating right, cutting out alcohol and not smoking will all improve one's cardiovascular health - and therefore the blood flow to the penis. In many cases, lifestyle changes such as improving fitness, losing some weight, and keeping blood sugar in check - particularly for diabetics -- can drastically improve the functioning of the penis. Loading up on L-Arginine, an amino acid that promotes good penis health, can also help improve circulation. L-Arginine is a common nutrient found in many foods such as meat, poultry, dairy, nuts, veggies, and soybeans. Eating a balanced diet should afford most men the nutrients they need to maintain a healthy lifestyle, but for those looking for an added boost of penis health, a supplemental vitamin regimen may be added.

Using an all- natural penis vitamin cream (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil) containing L-Arginine can help improve the health of the penis. When a vitamin lotion is applied topically, the nutrients are easily absorbed through the skin of the penis giving a man the most bang for his buck so to speak. L-Arginine improves circulation by dilating the blood vessels to allow for a greater engorgement of blood to the area - in fact - it is an ingredient found in some prescription erectile dysfunction medications. The delicate capillaries and blood vessels found in the penis are susceptible to being damaged during overly aggressive sex or masturbation, but L-Arginine can help heal them and restore much needed blood flow to the penis.

Basic Penis Exercises for Beginners Who Want a Bigger Penis ASAP

Người đăng: Unknown

By Johnson Li

When you wake up in the morning, your routine probably consists of a shower, am I right? Well, there is another extra step that you should add to your morning routine from now on: basic penis exercises that will give you a bigger penis ASAP.

Doesn't that sound great to you? If you are a man, then why wouldn't you want to get a longer, wider and stronger penis erection just by doing some basic penis exercises in the shower? The best part is that you won't have to take any harmful pills or use ineffective tools to get the job done. Believe it or not, this actually works. The secret is simply to make sure that you only focus on using natural penis enlargement methods to do so.

In a nutshell, natural penis enlargement methods are those methods that involve doing unique penile exercises with nothing but your hands to improve your penis's aspects in a natural, consistent and permanent manner. How great does that sound?

Here is an easy beginner's routine for basic penis exercises that you can start using every time you're in the shower from now on. They only take five minutes in total to do, by the way!

1. Warm up your penis.

This is very easy to do. Just make sure you take a nice hot shower and let the water reach your manhood for around 2 minutes. As easy and as quick as this might sound, though, it would be vital not to skip this warmup before pulling through with natural penis enhancement - remember that.

A lot of men out there seem to think that warmups aren't necessary for gentle and easy enlargement processes. However, warmups are actually very effective in this department. In fact, without them, you might end up experiencing side effects.

2. Start with lengthening exercises.

To start with basic penis exercises for lengthening, just make an OK sign with the fingers on our right hand and place the sign under the head of the penis. Then, gently pull on your manhood for 2 seconds without moving your hands and let go. Do the same thing with your other hand and keep repeating this with each hand until you have completed 20 repetitions.

3. Continue with thickening exercises.

The most basic penis exercises for thickening out there are called jelqing routines. To do these exercises, use the same OK sign from the prior step, but instead of placing your fingers around the head of the penis, place them around the base of the penis.

From there, gently yet firmly move your fingers toward the tip of the penis and let go right before you touch the head. Do this with the other hand and keep repeating this with each hand rhythmically until you have completed 20 repetitions.

4. Contract your PC muscles.

In a nutshell, PC muscles refer to the small muscles that are located between your testicles and your anus. To figure out which muscles these are, just move your penis without your hands. The muscles that make this movement happen are the PC muscles.

All that you have to do is contract these muscles in a pulsating manner for 20 seconds and then rest for the next 20 seconds and do the whole thing again until you finish 3 sets.

By following the basic penis exercises mentioned above, you should be able to gain one inch in length within four months along with a significant thickness increase. Just keep in mind that you should encourage growth while doing these exercises instead of forcing it. It would also be vital to be consistent when it comes to this without overdoing it in any way.

Healing and Wellness - The Medicine Wheel Way

Người đăng: Unknown

Native Americans have an approach to health and wellness that stems from the belief that illness is related to more than the body.
We believe that sickness is related to imbalance. Imbalance is not limited to the physical body but rather it is an extension of all the bodies - physical, spiritual, mental and emotional. In this article, I will introduce you to the Medicine Wheel and share with you my understanding of this as it relates to our health and well being. We will then go into depth on each of the bodies and you will learn to use and apply the Medicine Wheel in your life to create harmony and balance.

The Medicine Wheel is both a tool and a guide that was given to us by the Creator and used by Indian people for many things, including healing and wellness. In general terms, illness is the physical manifestation of spiritual, mental and/or emotional imbalance. It has been known for some time that stress and anxiety are linked to health. Our happiness and attitudes are an important part of healing when we do get sick. In the Great Wheel, everything is connected; all things are related. The approach to wellness is more holistic - one that looks at a larger picture for possible causes and solutions.

The physical, spiritual, mental and emotional bodies are represented in the four quadrants of the equilateral cross found in the center of a circle. This cross and circle are the symbols for the Medicine Wheel. The circle and/or glyph is symbolic of many things, in fact ALL things. The circle is perfection, balance, life, the Universe, infinite potential; the glyph is neither plus nor minus. All things are in and a part of this circle.

As a tool and a guide we can think of the Medicine Wheel like a map. Like a conventional map, there are reference points that serve as navigational landmarks or may be symbolic starting points that we know as the four cardinal directions - east, west, north and south. (There are actually six directions in the Wheel because there is also "above" and "below" sometimes referred to by Indian people as the "above world" and the "below world", or Father Sky and Mother Earth.) Each of the four bodies corresponds with the four directions.

The east corresponds with the physical, the south with emotional, the west with the spiritual and the north with the mental. An easy way to remember the way the four bodies relate to the four directions is to think of the Medicine Wheel like a human body. The head or mind (mental) is in the North just as north is always "up" on a conventional map. The heart (emotional) is in the south just as the heart is lower in the human body. To remember the east (physical) and the west (spiritual), just remember that we depend on the sun for our literal physical existence. We need its light, its warmth and its energy to physically survive. Just as the sun rises in the east to provide for our physical needs and then turns into twilight as it slips into the west, so, too, can you think and be reminded of the spiritual connection to the west. You may have heard reference to the "twilight years" or maybe you have heard the term "the sun setting on your life". Indians believe that when the spirit leaves the body that it goes into the west. The spirit returns to the spiritual realm.

All things are related and all things work together. Such is our health - physical, spiritual, mental and emotional. When you work with this knowledge and place your footsteps in harmony with this ancient wisdom, you will find power!

Our focus will be on the four bodies and their interconnectedness to health. We will also discuss the two other directions - above and below. These represent the social and occupational aspects of our well-being.

THE EAST - the Physical

The sun is a life-giving source that is central to all life on the earth. The importance given to the sun by Indian people is marked by the reverence they show it. The sun is our father in the same way that the earth is our mother. Like a father, the sun provides for us and gives us heat and light - and works with mother to provide food for us. Just as the sun rises in the east signaling the beginning of a new day, of new life, or of a new cycle - so, too, do we put "new beginnings" in the east on the Medicine Wheel. When a child is born, he enters the first of four phases in the growth cycle: infant, child, adult and elder. Because this new life is a beginning, the earthly journey has its start in the east.

First, there is the need to feed and nourish the body so that it has everything it needs to perform at its optimum capacity. Diet and nutrition are an important element. We want to put good things into our bodies while protecting it from the things that can harm it. Our body does a good job of filtering and voiding itself of toxins but when we consume quantities of toxin-like substances, such as those found in drugs, alcohol, and tobacco, the body has to fight hard to restore and maintain balance. Abuse of any of these things generally signals that something is unbalanced in one or more of the other bodies - spiritual, mental and emotional - all of which makes us more susceptible to illness.

In addition to diet and nutrition and the avoidance of toxins, the body need exercise. Exercise should come in two forms - strength or resistance training (weight lifting) and cardiovascular exercise (such as bike riding, swimming, stair climbing or walking). Anything that is aerobic works to elevate the heart rate. With exercise, the body's immune system is strengthened and its ability to use and assimilate nutrients is enhanced. The body needs blood and oxygen and exercise increases the flow of both.

As with everything balance is the key. The body needs rest in the same way that it needs exercise. Each person is different in their need for sleep just as they are in their need for exercise. Rest is a necessary component to a healthy regime. A balanced portion of each day should be dedicated to proper exercise, good nutrition and rest to keep the physical body in balance and functioning at its optimum level.

THE SOUTH - the Emotional

As the sun travels in a clockwise direction around the earth, so we will honor this by traveling in the same direction around the Medicine Wheel. With that, we enter the south and the emotional body. Our emotional body has both an inner and an outer aspect to it. Emotional health is the awareness of not only our own feelings, but also how we connect to others.

First we must understand and manage our own feelings and sense of well-being. When a person is in a state of balance, there is a general feeling of positivity and even enthusiasm about life. The difference between life and living is the difference between existence and thriving.

There are only a few emotions but a wide variety of feelings that stem from them. Fear, anger, happiness, sadness/grief and love are the base emotions. Emotional maturity comes as we learn to effectively manage and cope with these emotions, as well as related ancillary feelings. In the same way that we must find and dedicate time each day to building and maintaining the physical body, so too must we make time for the care and growth of our emotional body. The daily practice of meditation is a benefit. Take time out of each day to find things that you are happy about and thankful for. Send that gratitude in the form of prayer as it will help you become more aware. Awareness is crucial to growth and development in our emotional health. Focusing on and making time for the positive relationships in our lives is also necessary. When our relationships are stable and healthy, they add to our state of well-being. We can exist without other people, but we can't thrive. To put it simply, we were created a herd animal and as such, we are meant to work together for the good of the herd. Our relationships are the outward aspect of our emotional body, just as self-awareness is the inner.

You may have noticed that there are different kinds of emotions. I am reluctant to use the terms "positive" and "negative" when speaking of emotions since there can be learning and growth from pain... ultimately making it a positive event in our lives. Fear is a great teacher especially when we work to control and evolve from it. Feelings are clues that we need so we can make adjustments in our lives. When we feel good, we go for more of the same. When we feel bad, we make corrections to feel better. All of this needs to be tempered with good judgment and balance. There are many things that can make us feel good that, in excess, can be negative. Some emotions make us feel good and some make us feel bad, but all are necessary to our emotional state of mind and our learning.

THE WEST - the Spiritual

Why are we here? What is our reason for being? Are we part of something greater than ourselves? What is this greater thing? These are some of the questions asked (and sometimes ignored) by people. We largely accept the need for food, clothing and shelter (our physical needs) and recognize that we feel and are sentient beings (emotional), and that we possess the power of thought (mental) but spirituality is the one thing that people can somehow deny. For those who do recognize and accept that we are spiritual creatures, they also know that there is a need to feed and nourish the spirit just as we need to care for our physical, emotional and mental bodies.

One of the ways we do this is through prayer and meditation. Every thought that comes from our mind and every word that comes from our mouth is a prayer. When we think, we send though energy out into the world and universe. This is why we should be careful with our thoughts. Whether we know it or not, our thoughts are intentions that go out from us even if we are not conscious of it. Our words bring into the physical realm that which we think. Awareness that our thoughts and our words are forms of prayer should have you asking "to what, and for what, do I pray?"

Our spirit is our essence - what we are at our core. To be spiritual is to raise our essence to the highest level possible. We do this through our thoughts, words and deed AND constant awareness! Feed the body, mind and heart good things and you nourish the spirit. Seek understanding and truth and dedicate a portion of each day to prayer and meditation and your spirit will be strong. Another thing that is important to the spirit is the attitude of gratitude. Our thanks is the one thing that we can give to the Creator that isn't already His. Whatever it is that you are thankful for when you dwell upon it in your mind, we give back to a generous universe from the heart. The spirit is nourished through this.

THE NORTH - the Mental

We have the capacity for endless learning. The brain continues to grow throughout our lives but like our body, heart and spirit, we must feed it good things.

The mental aspect of our being is important because the thought is the start of what we work to create. Change your thinking and you change your beliefs. Change your beliefs and you change your actions. Change your actions and you change your character. Change your character and you change your destiny. It all begins with the thought. This is our opportunity to create, through our intention, the life that we want for ourselves. When you focus on the positive things in life, positive is the outcome. To become aware of thoughts that might need adjustment or change, meditation is central.

In addition to meditation, we want to stimulate and challenge the brain and dedicate a portion of each day to intellectual pursuits and growth. Puzzles, learning a new language, playing a musical instrument, anything that causes the brain to work can be germane to growth.

I can't stress enough the power of being positive and keeping your focus on the good in life. The term "we reap what we sow" is true. When you send good things out to the universe, you get good things back. The seeds that you sow today are the garden from which you will eat tomorrow.

MOTHER - the Social

I hesitate to assign a direction to this aspect because of the negative connotation association with "down" so I use "Mother" because Mother energy flows upward with Father energy spirals downward. To remember this you can think of "Mother Earth" and "Father Sun". Together they form a twin helix that spirals through all things. In people this energy travels through the natural channel in our spine.

We should care for our social/communal environment like a mother who cares for her child. In Native culture, there is a strong sense of community because we recognize that "It takes a village". All that we are as individuals affects the whole, which affects us in return. We need to care about the whole just as we care about the self and all of the dimensions that make up that being. We rely on others for many things. We rely on the creatures and other beings on this earth for our very survival. We are a herd animal and, as such, we were meant to know our place in the great circle of life. We are meant to know how we relate to all others - and how they relate to us. Each person contributes either positively or negatively to his or her environment and community so it is in everyone's' best interest to strive for a healthy relationship with the world and all of the creatures in it.

Relating this to the four stages of the growth cycle, when a baby is born everything is done for the baby. He is clothed, fed, cleaned and tended to by someone else. In a sense, the world (at least as the baby knows it), revolves around him. As he grows and his awareness increases, he sees a bigger world and it is a natural inclination to try and master that world so he becomes more independent - going further and doing more for himself. Eventually in his learning, he discovers that the world becomes less about him and more about the whole. If his learning is in balance, he knows the importance of serving the whole because he knows that serving the whole is, in essence, serving the self.

A portion of our living should be dedicated to community service on some level. At the root of this is learning to live in harmony with our environment and the community - receiving from them and giving to them.

FATHER - the Occupational

Occupational is more than what we do to earn a living. It is how we "work" to enrich our lives and how we contribute to the whole of society. It rises above simply performing a task to doing so with a positive attitude.

In our occupation, we can acquire new skills, discover new ideas, all of which can feed our physical, spiritual, emotional and mental bodies. Understanding how work contributes to our own life, our families, our community and our world can elevate a task-oriented position to something more meaningful and fulfilling.

A key to finding this fulfillment is finding something that you like to do... finding something that is in line with your values, morals and beliefs. Barring that, it is about having the right attitude, working with your heart, and finding joy in the achievement and the doing because you know what you do is important on so many levels. Do it like you mean it!

SUMMARY

Energy is all around us. We are created from energy. There are many different forms of energy: heat, light, male, female, positive, negative and so on. There is also a Universal Energy - a divine energy - that when we tap into it and align ourselves with its flow, is life changing.

To align ourselves with this flow we must bring all of the bodies mentioned above into harmony. When all of the bodies are in harmony and balance, it is like all of the planets aligning for us and our good.

Energy is about vibration and vibrational levels. If we are to resonate with those things on a higher vibrational level, we must first raise our own. We enter this higher stream by making better choices that affect all levels and all bodies. These choices come from positive thoughts and actions. Our quest for good health and well-being has, at its heart, the quest for a good life. Being well is living well.

In the traditional way, I place this information at your feet. If you should find something good in it, pick it up and walk with it because it now belongs to you. We do this with gifts of this nature because we understand that each person has their own free will. With that free will comes a responsibility for this gift of life that is ours. Each person must take the initiative and be an active participant to his or her well-being. The symbolic "laying at your feet" shows that you have to take it upon yourself to pick up and use this information. Like any other medication, this only work if you take it.

My prayer is that each person will find balance through this awareness which will then spread into the whole of our world and mend the Sacred Hoop of Life that has been broken for too long.

In Spirit,

A Healing Miracle?

A Healing Miracle?

"Would you consider doing a hospital visit before you make the drive back north," Rob asked.
"Who is it that I would be visiting," I asked.
"Jeremy is in the hospital. He needs someone to help him begin to practice walking and getting away from the bed. He is a big man, but you and Johnny can do this. I will call Johnny to have him join you."
"What is Jeremy's last name?"
"Knight," was Rob's response.
It was a two hour drive out of the city of Los Angeles that I had ahead of me. I had just spent a weekend with family and friends and now this. Though a little tired and a lot on my mind, I did call my daughter and tell her that I would be staying another night. Then I headed west to Brotman Hospital for this visit which had some things in store for me.
I had no idea what this was about, but I admired this gentleman who was such a wonderful bass voice. It was a pleasure to hear him speak simple words, let alone hear him sing. Jeremy Knight was in the church choir and usually stood at the top of the choir loft commanding a bit of space.
My black Jaguar sedan was so visible, but I just ignored the people who peered at me as I sat in the car preparing my mind for this visit to see Jeremy.
"Nice car," said one young man who commented as I left the vehicle.
I just smiled and continued my path into the hospital. The hospital smell of cleanliness touched my senses. I then decided to turn around and exit the hospital. Since it was unclear how long I would be there, it would be helpful if I had something to eat before going to his room.
Hospital visits were part of my ministry and something I was usually happy to do. I felt something stirring within me, but it was not fully in my senses at that time. A bite to eat would give me more time to bring my mind to the task at hand, but this had to be quick. I wanted to assure that I was timely.
Sitting in a small café for a few minutes, my mind began to focus on my desire to be of assistance.
"In what room will I find Jeremy Knight?"
The person at the help desk took a moment to look at me and then told me his hospital room number and how to get there.
Upon entering the room, it appeared that there was more help than needed. No familiar faces were around his bed, but the four ladies seemed to be vying for his attention.
Jeremy was writing on a pad to communicate with the ladies. It appeared that he was unable to speak.
I was a little disappointed. That incredible voice Jeremy had. I would not be able to hear it today, I thought.
Pulling up a chair, I just awaited my turn to speak with him. He did notice me and smiled as I patiently awaited my turn with him.
Noticing my facial expression, one of the ladies pulled me aside to let me know what was occurring.
"It appears that you do not know what happened to Jeremy. Let me fill you in," the person said.
Pulling me aside in the large room I was told that Jeremy had eaten something that he was allergic to. Whatever it was had caused his throat to swell and luckily this had happened while he was working. Jeremy was an employee of the hospital. There were tubes in his neck as a hole had been surgically created in his neck to get oxygen to him. An emergency surgery had been performed and this reportedly saved his life.
Such a powerful voice was no longer there as Jeremy just wrote his thoughts on a pad and did seem a little frustrated that he had to write instead of talk.
It may seem trivial, but I decided that I wanted to see the Boston versus Miami playoff game that was already on the television set that was on the upper corner in the hospital room. It was a large room and I made myself comfortable watching the game.
After about half an hour, everyone had left the room and I was alone with Jeremy.
"Just watch the game and enjoy yourself," Jeremy wrote to me on the pad. "I want you to be comfortable and I will watch the game as well."
At halftime of the game, I pulled my chair closer to the bed and watched as one of the nurses entered the room.
"You seem not to be in any pain," the nurse said.
Jeremy seemed to be conserving his energy. He just smiled and nodded to her as she left the room.
"It really is good to have you here, Jeremy said to me in a very low whisper. Thank you for coming. I feel honored that you would come here to see me.
I had forgotten that another man was to come to help him walk. It was just Jeremy and I in the room.
We enjoyed the game and were happy with the outcome. Miami had won the game.
"It has been a little while since I have seen you. Church is no longer such a big part of my life, but I am so pleased that they have put out the word that I enjoy the company," Jeremy said in another whisper.
I really had not noticed that his voice was gaining strength. Yet, I did remember the firm commitment that was now a part of the past for Jeremy. He was no longer as active in the church and I was not aware of this due to my move away from Los Angeles.
"You provide me with a reminder of a part of my life that I must return to. Agape is a wonderful church community," Jeremy then remarked.
His voice continued to get stronger. He was no longer using the pad, but this still was not the voice I was accustomed to.
"We were both trained in an amazing organization. You remind me of some commitments that I had made to that organization and I plan to return to the church after I heal," Jeremy said.
"You will heal quickly and I hope that you do return to the church. You have such an amazing voice and your presence is a wonderful one," I remarked.
"I am actually regaining my voice now. This is wonderful. I feel great. Hopefully they will let me leave this hospital soon. I now feel no need to remain in this bed. It has been some time since I last walked and I will need practice at that. Again, I really appreciate your being here," Jeremy said now in a stronger voice.
We talked for another hour and his voice continued to strengthen. It appeared that he had regained full strength of his voice by the time I left the hospital. It was my pleasure to be there and I did not know that I had witnessed a miracle that evening.
I then returned to my daughter's house. Waking early the next morning at about 5am, I started my drive out of Los Angeles. It had been a most pleasant weekend.
About eight months later, I was visiting Los Angeles again. While attending church, I came across Jeremy on the grounds.
"Good to see you here. I have rejoined the choir and am aware that you no longer live here in Los Angeles. Thank you once again for visiting me in the hospital, said Jeremy.
Apparently he had experienced a full recovery. What an incredible voice!
The End

An Indian Chiropractor once told a group that the body can reject poison if it is kept happy and joyous. One should do nothing to test God, but a person can do a lot for themselves if they recognize a few small things. Love is composed of both peace and joy. That produces a state called bliss.
